On Youm-e-Istehsal, Pakistan’s military leadership reaffirmed unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), condemning India’s 2019 actions as a violation of international law.

On August 5, 2025, Pakistan marked Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), alongside the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, and the Pakistan Armed Forces, expressing steadfast solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The observance commemorates six years since India revoked Article 370 on August 5, 2019, stripping IIOJK of its special status and splitting it into two union territories, actions Pakistan condemns as illegal under United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, per a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR emphasized that India’s military lockdown, involving over 900,000 troops, and attempts to alter IIOJK’s demographic structure violate international norms and suppress Kashmiri aspirations for self-determination. Field Marshal Munir highlighted the resilience of Kashmiris, stating their struggle against oppression inspires Pakistan’s resolve, as quoted by Geo News. The military leadership pledged continued diplomatic and moral support, aligning with Pakistan’s long-standing position that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved through a UN-mandated plebiscite, per The News International.

Nationwide, Pakistan held solidarity events, including a one-minute silence at 10:00 AM, rallies, and seminars, as directed by the Cabinet Division. In Islamabad, a walk led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif showcased Pakistan’s commitment, with participants displaying banners condemning India’s human rights abuses, according to Radio Pakistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call for the international community to address India’s actions, which it described as a threat to regional stability, per an official statement.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), protests in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur saw residents demand global action, with AJK Advisor Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry asserting that India’s 2019 move failed to crush the Kashmiri spirit, per UrduPoint. The armed forces’ reaffirmation underscores Pakistan’s unified stance, with the ISPR noting that India’s policies fuel unrest, risking broader conflict. As Youm-e-Istehsal events unfolded globally, Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership vowed to keep the Kashmir issue at the forefront of international discourse.
