In a fierce intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Awaran district, a Pakistan Army officer, Major Syed Gillani, was martyred, and three terrorists linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al Hindustan were killed, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The operation, conducted on July 15, 2025, underscores Pakistan’s relentless commitment to combating terrorism despite the heavy cost borne by its brave soldiers.

Major Syed Gillani led his troops with valor during the Awaran operation. Based on precise intelligence, security forces targeted a terrorist hideout, engaging in an intense firefight. The ISPR reported that three members of Fitna al Hindustan, a group allegedly sponsored by India, were neutralized. Tragically, Major Gillani fell in the line of duty, embodying the courage and sacrifice that define Pakistan’s armed forces. “The security forces of Pakistan remain determined to root out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism,” the ISPR stated, emphasizing that such sacrifices only strengthen national resolve.

Balochistan remains a hotspot for insurgent violence, with separatist groups like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) disrupting peace. The region’s strategic importance—particularly due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)—makes it a target for foreign-backed militancy. Pakistan has long accused India of fueling unrest in Balochistan, a claim New Delhi denies. The recent operation in Awaran highlights the ongoing challenge of securing the province, where attacks on security forces and civilians have surged since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

The martyrdom of Major Gillani is a stark reminder of the sacrifices made to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty. A sanitization operation is underway to ensure no terrorists remain in the area, reflecting the military’s unwavering resolve. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the fallen officer, stating, “His sacrifice will not go in vain.” As Pakistan battles external proxies and internal threats, the nation stands united behind its armed forces, determined to eliminate terrorism and secure a stable future.
