Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, unveiling a multi-pronged strategy to eliminate groups like Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij during a counter-terrorism meeting in Islamabad.

On July 31, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism, emphasizing a comprehensive strategy targeting groups such as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij, as stated during a review meeting of the Steering Committee on Counter-Terrorism and Establishment of the State Writ in Islamabad, per Dawn. The approach combines ground operations, stringent legislation, public engagement, and efforts to counter extremist ideologies. Sharif praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their success in Operations Radd-ul-Fasaad, Zarb-e-Azb, and the recent Marka-e-Haq, which he said earned global recognition, according to Geo.tv. He highlighted the unity of the nation, armed forces, and law enforcement agencies, noting their sacrifices bolster Pakistan’s $350 billion economy by fostering stability, per the State Bank of Pakistan.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, among others, underscored coordinated efforts between federal and provincial governments, per The Express Tribune. Sharif acknowledged the effective measures by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Interior, and Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTDs), particularly Punjab’s CTD, in curbing terrorism. He also noted that joint operations have reduced smuggling, positively impacting the economy, as reported by SUCH TV. “A terrorism-free state is vital for restoring investor confidence,” Sharif stated, citing the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s surge and improved global ratings as evidence of economic stability, per the Prime Minister’s Office.

Sharif further emphasized the ongoing repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals in line with international laws, a program enhancing border security, according to Radio Pakistan. The government’s reforms, including system digitization and tax improvements, aim to attract foreign investment, per the World Bank. With terrorism incidents rising since the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire in 2022, per Dawn, Pakistan’s multi-faceted strategy seeks to ensure national security and economic resilience, reinforcing the state’s authority against internal and external threats.
