Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announces a robust strategy to eliminate anti-social elements, praising Pakistan’s armed forces for their anti-terrorism efforts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, unveiling a comprehensive strategy to eliminate anti-social elements during a high-level meeting on July 31, 2025. Chairing the Steering Committee on Counter-Terrorism and Establishment of the State’s Writ (Harden the State), Sharif emphasized the nation’s resolve to uproot threats like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), labeled as Fitna al-Khawarij, and Baloch separatist groups, referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan.

Sharif highlighted the success of past operations, including Zarb-e-Azb, Radd-ul-Fasaad, and the recent Marka-e-Haq, which have earned global recognition, according to Radio Pakistan. He praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their bravery and acknowledged the contributions of provincial governments, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Interior, and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), particularly Punjab’s CTD, in combating militancy. The prime minister stressed a multi-pronged approach, combining ground operations, legislative reforms, public engagement, and efforts to counter extremist ideologies, as reported by The Express Tribune. He directed the committee to ensure seamless coordination between federal and provincial authorities to implement recommendations effectively.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, also addressed economic security. Sharif noted that coordinated efforts have curtailed smuggling, boosting the national economy, per Dawn. He underscored that a terrorism-free state is vital for restoring investor confidence, citing reforms like system digitization and tax improvements, which have driven a surge in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) index, according to Pakistan Today.

Sharif also confirmed the ongoing repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan, conducted in line with international laws, as stated by The Nation. Security analyst Mosharraf Zaidi, quoted by Geo News, emphasized that Pakistan’s strategy reflects a unified national will to confront militancy head-on. The government’s focus on actionable measures signals a determined push to secure Pakistan’s future
