Two Young Brothers Killed in Karachi Road Accident, Tanker Driver Arrested

Two teenage brothers were killed in a tragic road accident involving a water tanker on Sunday afternoon along Korangi Road near the Defence area of Karachi.

The victims were identified as Tauseef Shah, 12, and Ayan Shah, 15, residents of Korangi. Their 17-year-old cousin, Tayyab, who was also on the motorcycle, escaped the accident unhurt.

According to police, the boys were on their way to Sea View when the collision occurred. Their father, who runs a meat shop near the Kala Pull area, later told investigators that the boys had left to collect meat for a family wedding.

The accident sparked outrage among local residents, some of whom set the water tanker on fire in protest. Traffic was disrupted briefly but resumed after police removed the charred vehicle from the scene.

Funeral prayers for the two brothers were held at Hamadiya Mosque in Korangi, followed by burial at Bagh Korangi Graveyard. Family members, still in shock, described the boys as responsible and kind-hearted.

Defence Station House Officer (SHO) Hukumdad confirmed that the tanker driver, identified as Amir, had fled the scene but was later apprehended. The vehicle’s owner, Mumtaz, was also taken into custody. An FIR is expected to be registered following consultations with the victims’ family.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
