Workers’ Federation Sounds Alarm Over Security Crisis in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan

The Pakistan United Workers Federation (PUWF), one of the nation’s most prominent labor groups, has voiced strong concern over the deteriorating security situation in key provinces, particularly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan. In a joint statement issued by Provincial President Muhammad Iqbal and General Secretary Razam Khan, the PUWF highlighted the growing frequency of violent incidents in the aforementioned regions. The Federation took a firm stance on the federal government’s handling of the crisis, criticizing its failure to deliver lasting peace. According to Iqbal and Khan, the lack of security has prompted widespread business closures and capital flight. “Many factories have shut down in affected areas, and investors are relocating their businesses to other provinces or abroad,” they stated. This trend, they warned, places an outsized burden on laborers, who are the first to lose their livelihoods in times of instability.
